The Philippine Stock Market - November 28, 2008
With WallStreet closed for Thanksgiving and giving no leads, and after having gone up more than 200 points (or more than 11% already) earlier this week, the local equities market closed flat ahead of the long weekend. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) traded within a very narrow 13 point range.

WallStreet climbed higher by almost 3% as the DJIA closed at its high ahead of the Thanksgiving break. It has now risen more than a thousand points in the last four trading sessions.
The local equities market continues its advance as sentiment in WallStreet spilled over. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) immediately opened higher and consolidated for the rest of the trading day as it tries to build a base at the 1900-1950 level.
The Philippine Economy expands to a 4.6% year on year growth in the 3rd Qtr of 2008. (The US on the other hand fell 0.5% in the same period).

WallStreet got a huge boost on the news of the bailout of Citigroup. It has now advanced almost 900 points in the past two trading sessions (Friday and Monday) as it got back its steep losses of around 870 points last Nov 19-20 (Wednesday and Thursday).
The local equities market again tracked the movement in WallStreet. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) however advanced more today than yesterday, as it tested the 1900 level after closing near its high and ending up by 108 points.
