China raised its Reserve Rate Requirement by 100 basis points to 14.5% (the highest in a decade) as it tries to cool its economy to prevent it from overheating. This move cuts liquidity by more than $40 billion.

The dollar reserves of the Philippines fell slightly in November (2007) from its October (2007) levels.


PSEi previous close - 3745.39 (December 07, 2007)

WallStreet did not provide any leads as it expects a 25 to 50 basis points cut in interest rates by the Federal Reserve Board.

Asian markets were mostly down in the morning trade.

The local equities market sharp drop was unexpected. A consolidation at the 3700 level was seen. The decline however is still not a cause of worry and the PSEi just partially closed the chart gap at the 3648-3678 levels.
The 3800 level remains an upside target.
