The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) advanced another 20.57 (+0.15%) points. It however failed to hold above the 14,000 level after touching a high of 14,020 (its intraday low was at 13,940). It closed overnight in WallStreet at 13971.55

The Philippine Peso reaches a 7 year high of 45.24 against the dollar on back of strong surges in foreign investment inflows to the stock market.
The peso's advance was bolstered by the general weakness of the dollar which was near record lows against the euro because of worries over the subprime mortgage sector and the US Fed chairman's monetary policy testimony to the US Congress.
