The Philippine Star - November 09, 2007 (the same comment appears in today's issue of BusinessWorld)Today, the local equities market consolidated at the 3700 level even if it was another volatile session in WallStreet. As could be seen in the day's range of trade in the DJIA, it was down by as much as 220 points at one point before limiting its losses to 33 points. It was up very early in trading, slowly went down, was at its bottom for most of the second half of the session and recovered only in the last hour.

The day's trade was perked up by the resumption of trading of mining issue Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co.(LC/LCB). It had the trade in its shares suspended yesterday pending a disclosure. Brisk trading of its shares early in the trading session had investors turning its attention to stocks in the mining sector .
The company submitted to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) a disclosure regarding its execution of a Memorandum of Understanding with Zijin Mining Group Ltd. on the Far SouthEast Project.
