The DJIA retreated and gave back half of its gains from the past three days. The steep correction had it close near the day's low.

With WallStreet on the decline, the local equities market traded on the downside from the opening bell. It continued its weak showing from the past couple of days. Investors continue to remain cautious ahead of the weekend and preferred to await further developments both on the state of the US stock market and the Philippine political front.
