The DJIA had a huge rebound in the US and got back more than 200 points overnight. The local equities market then followed suit in its advance but the rise in the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) was tempered by the long weekend ahead.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) raised its policy rates by 25 basis points yesterday. This brings the rate at which the BSP boorows from and lends to banks to 5.25% and 7.25% respectively.

Asian markets were up.
The Philippine Peso continues to weaken and is at PhP 44.168 vs US$ 1.00.
