It was a volatile day in WallStreet. The DJIA was down in early trade and tested the 11700 level as a support. By mid-trade it recovered and was even up to breach the 11900 level. It then slowly declined in the last two hours of trading to close in negative territory and just above the 2800 level.

The local equities market started weak but after a relativey listless trading in the first 20 minutes, it slowly and steadily advanced. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) had a strong finish and it ended at its high above the 2500 level.
