The Philippine Stock Market - December 22, 2008
The local equities market declined sharply as most investors were already keeping to the sidelines ahead of the long holiday break. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) fell more than 3.0% and dragged down the hopes of a huge rally these last remaining trading days of 2008.

WallStreet started the month of December with a huge correction from last week's gains. It closed near its low at just above the 8100 level.

WallStreet started the month of December with a huge correction from last week's gains. It closed near its low at just above the 8100 level.
The local equities market resumed trading after the long weekend weighed down by a heavy sell down in WallStreet. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) also corrected and gave back almost half of its gains the previous week. It too, closed near its low and was below the 1900 level.
