WallStreet again succumbs to a large sell-down. The DJIA breaks well below the 7000 level is now at levels last seen on April 1997.

The local equities market also opened lower as sentiment was dragged down again by the declines in WallStreet. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) however was able to recover its bearing and even closed slightly up.
