WallStreet immediately fell on the opening bell as renewed worries on the banking stocks (and the Financials sector in general) unnerved investors. The DJIA closed lower by almost 3% as dissappointing earnings and poor retail sales figures dragged down sentiment further. The DJIA is now down almost 9% since last week (Jan. 7).
The local equities market also opened immediately down. By the close of the trading day, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) dropped by 1.5%. The key 2000 index level remains a target resistance.
