The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed higher by 21.39 points last night to end at 9626.80.

The local equities market again fell steeply today and went against the grain as the other asian equities markets were up. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) broke below the 2800 level.
