As the DJIA continues to post new year-highs; the local equities market got a big boost in sentiment and opened strong. But when it failed once more to hold above the 2800 level, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) retreated and gave back most of its earlier advances to close with only slight gains.
