WallStreet resumes trading after the holiday and suffers a large drop. The DJIA immediately opened lower as worries on other economies weighed down sentiment where there is continuing uncertainty that the approved $ 787 bn economic stimulus package would be enough to help reverse the economy.

The DJIA is testing its Nov 21, 2008 low of 7449.38.

Japan's GDP dropped more than 12% in a quarter and Singapore's GIC has been reported to have suffered losses of around $33 bn.

The local equities market also fell but the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) was able to cut its losses by the close of the trading day.
