After an attempt to test the 8600 level in the earlier part of the trading day, the DJIA was flat by mid-session and then ended weaker to close near its day's low.

The local equities market also had an inconsistent trading pattern for the day. After opening lower, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) moved higher to reach its day's high, then it slowly declined to touch it's day's low; and then it finally ended flat.
