The local equities market ended the month of May on a positive note. After holding its ground yesterday (when the DJIA fell steeply), the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) advanced today as the DJIA recovered. It opened higher and continued to rise throughout the session to touch new 7-month high-levels. The PSEi tests the 2400 level.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) cut interest rates by 25 basis points.
